"Misty Autumn Falls"

In the Upper Peninsula area of Michigan there are a series of waterfalls. This is an image of the Tahquamenon Upper Falls area.
The day started out in solid fog, which turned into rain, then drizzle by the time I started shooting the upper falls. The rain came back again with a vengeance before I finished shooting.
The Upper Peninsula is really beautiful especially in the fall. This particular area didn't have that much color yet , partly because there are so many different kinds of evergreen trees mixed all through, plus I think peak color will be a week away from now.
These falls are about 200 feet across, and have a 50 ft. drop. The mist from fog, and the spray from the falls can be seen in the image. This is a truly lovely place , and quite invigorating. I hope you enjoy the image!

  2. This is BEAUTIFUL. Even though I am a fan of true fall coloring, I think that the smattering of reds and yellows is perfect for this composition because they add to it but don't overpower it. Your composition here is spot on. This is one to be very proud of Rachel! Well done.
