Two Little Beauties

Today was a dark dreary day with the threat of rain showers continuously, I was able to get this shot in right before it rained. I had to use flash to get it. Notice the black ant crawling on a leaf (lower center). I didn't catch that till I uploaded it to the computer. I think it makes a nice addition though!

Cavern Reflections

This pool of water in a VA. cavern was one of many. I love the way the reflections come through in the image.

Raindrops Stacked

These plastic chairs were sitting stacked on the deck . The rain covering them, and just hovering on the edge made a nice image.

Magnolia Blossom

It's nearly time for all the Magnolia blossoms to fall off, but I caught this one fully open and looking pretty.

It Looks Like Texas

When I looked out over this area it reminded me so much of North Central Texas. Theres something about the way the clouds look and the way the trees appear that just makes me feel like I'm in Texas.

Little White Bells

For some reason the name of this flower escapes me at the moment. I wanted to get the photos up on the blog right away. If I remember the name I'll come back and put it in. If anyone else knows , your welcome to comment. I'd appreciate it.

Geometry in Herbs

The center of the herb garden has a nice geometric pattern. It looks pretty even when it's still early in the season.

Follow the Red Brick Path

Walking through the herb garden along the brick pathway is always nice. At this time of year there aren't many herbs growing, but as the season goes on, the scenery will change alot.

A Very Prickly Thing

I'm not sure what this is called, but they are everywhere in the area, and are quite prickly! If anyone knows their name your welcome to comment below.

Nature Preserve Wetlands

It was a hot humid morning after a torrential rainfall from the day before. I decided to check out the nature preserve. It is mainly wetland marshes. There were loads of Red Winged Blackbirds nesting everywhere, but I wasn't able to get a shot of any of them. I spent quite a while there trudging through the thick mud.

Purple Iris

Bright sunshine gazes down upon the beautiful purple Iris. The day felt so hot, I was afraid they would start to wilt.

Chickadee In His Home

While walking through a nature preserve I noticed several bird houses scattered throughout the area near the pond. I caught this little guy just poking his head out of the hole for a look around.

Colorful Rock Garden

This rock garden changes dramatically throughout the year. Today was a colorful late spring image. Various succulents, small flowers, and creeping greenery are mingled all throughout and on top of the various rocks.

Pink Clouds Surround

These clouds were part of the sunset series . To me they have an impressionistic feel to them.

Glorious Sunset Over Tree Tops

The sunset in the West cast a beautiful glow of pink, purple and blue towards the East. I took this image of the tree tops with the glorious glow in the back. It was so beautiful I just kept snapping away.

Another Round of Thunderstorms Rolls In

A new round of thunderstorms as it began to make its way across the sky. At this point the view of the trees etc was still light, but within minutes everything was engulfed in darkness with strong gusts of wind, rain, and hail.

Big Puffy White Clouds

Beautiful big puffy white clouds that I just couldn't resist, especially with the bright blue backdrop!

As The Storm Pulls Away

A view of a park as the storm clouds pull away, and the bright blue sky is ushered in. The trees are still bent slightly from the strong winds, and the leaves are turned backwards.

Big Storm Brewing

As I was driving down the road some huge storm clouds started to pop up. I just had to jump out of the car and take some shots. This was the best image I could get of the clouds even though there are houses in the background.
