Yesterday morning the sunrise was on fire! I quickly took a series of shots. These two were the best representation of the awesomeness of the sky! They were taken seconds apart. If you can zoom in, you'll notice birds flying, approximately the middle of the image, probably geese, but I can't tell for sure.
There's something so stunning about a winter sunrise against the dark silhouette of the stark bare branches of the trees!

Standing on a sandbar the water around me was calm, and shallow as the tiny waves rolled in. The massive clouds in the distance were a cross between a large storm to the North that was ending, and the clearing in the South with the sky filled with beautiful clouds.
The calmness of the water lends to the feel of a safe harbor, but in reality this area can turn deadly within a very short period of time, especially in mid to late fall when huge storms with massive gales roll in.
The whole are is exceptionally beautiful, even the storminess of it, but I wouldn't want to be out on a boat or a ship when the Gales of November come early!

We know that for now the memories can only be brought back to life through photographs, at least for the next few months or so.
This is an HDR image of a wonderful summer memory. Looking down from atop a hill at time stood still. Peering through the trees we capture a glimpse of a quiet summer day. Fine white wicker chairs waiting patiently on the porch for someone to come and sit there admiring, and relishing the wonders of the day.
I hope you enjoyed this tiny time trip back to a summer day which feels like so long ago!
So what started out in my mind as one kind of image turned into a story of these boys just casually making their way down the line. I wonder where they were headed!

There are many trails here back in the woods, great for some cross country skiing when we get enough snow.
