In case you've been following me on 500px , I posted the upper portion of this vintage gas pump there a couple of days ago. This image here is the entire pump.
So beautiful in all it's old fashioned design, peeling pain and rust. I'm guessing from all the info I have gathered that it is probably from the 1920's. If anyone else has a better idea on the age I'd love to hear from you.
What is so amazing to me is how far we've come, and how much we've stayed the same. The metal nozzle is very similar to the one we use today, as is the rubber hose. I guess everything else falls into the how far we've come category. I don't think that ten gallons would get us very far today, but it sure would cost a pretty penny!

Wonderful image Rachel and very nicely processed with that old fashioned feel.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Mike! Very appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this Rachel! Just the other day I was pining for a garage to store my Corvette and one of these pumps to be on display! Great shot here, my friend, love your composition.. and the b&w processing really brings out all the natural drama!
