This shot is from one of the lower areas of Dark Hollow Falls in the Shenandoah National Park. In other years, and at other times of this year the falls are flowing much more strongly than what you see here. Yet again another casualty of this years drought. I'm sure things will change soon, but for now it's still running pretty dry in comparison.
The trail to get down to the falls is a very short one, around a mile and a half, but the grade is petty steep. You don't notice it too much going down, but you sure do on the way back up, especially when the temps are in the mid 90's with a ton of humidity!!
In the town of Front Royal that day the temperature reached 110 record breaking insanely hot degrees for VA!!

A beautiful shot and definitely worth the extra effort!
ReplyDeleteThanks very very much Mike!!
