"Sunburst at Sunset" B&W

We've had some pretty wild and windy weather over the past 24 hours. I was hoping to get out today for a sunset, but not a chance of that! It was totally overcast, snowing lightly, and very windy at that time!
 Many places around here are still without power because of the strong winds last night.
This image was captured a couple of days ago. I decided to go with black and white to see how it looks.
 This was a sunburst that happened just a few minutes before sunset. All the trees and part of a field are in silhouette.
 I think the use of B&W gives an interesting take on the sunset and clouds.

"Barn Shadows"

At the end of February I got to make a visit to the old barn I've posted before. It was a bright sunny, but really cold and windy day outside. Some snow was still on the ground, but being as we haven't seen much anyway this year this wasn't unusual.
The late morning sun was shining strongly, casting wonderful shadows from the trees onto the side of the barn. I think this wonderful piece of history has come through the winter so far in very good shape. I can't wait for a revisit when spring finally arrives!

"Smooth and Silky"

This image is totally switching gears from yesterday's post, but I really loved the color and silky smoothness of this fully open tulip so much so that I just wanted to share the beauty with you guys!
We're at that transitional time of year now, when outside is pretty much gray and dreary. Nothing really blooming yet, and who knows if we'll get any more snow or not.
 So, venturing out into various conservatories is a great way to get a little spring time love and cheer into both your life, and your camera! :) Enjoy!

"Curb Service"

Just had to grab a shot of a real old style drive in eatery! It seems as if everything is still as it was when it first started. Some of the neon bulbs are burned out though. I wish they'd replace them to get the full effect! Sonic is the new-old style drive in, but this place is the real deal!

"Gazing at Sunshine"

Is anyone ready for a little spring sunshine? Well here it is! I went to a local conservatory today and was very pleasantly surprised that they had brought out all types of early spring flowers. To me jonquils really signify the start of spring. They have such a sunny and warm feel and come in so many varieties. This beautiful one here seems as if it's swimming in a sea of green, but it's like looking at sunshine to me!

"Reflections of Brown"

One day in late fall while on a walk I was passing by this pond. The tree with brown leaves and some light colored sky reflections were looking rather pretty in the water. While not a colorful fall image, it was a peaceful one, and seemed to signal the end of autumn. I took just this one shot, not even sure that I would ever use it.
Somehow today feels like a reflective day all around, so this image seems to fit well into that feeling!
