I love waterlilies, there are so many varieties and colors. Usually they're plentiful and easy to find, but yet again another thing that has been a casualty of the drought. Some ponds that usually have lily pads and flowers have actually dried up completely.
I think our weather is taking a turn for the better now, at least I'm hoping! We finally got some real rain, and the temperatures are down a bit.
I have some hope that the fall foliage may be able to be saved!!
I'm hoping that for all of you in drought ridden areas, you receive some wonderful rainfall and recovery!!

The trail to get down to the falls is a very short one, around a mile and a half, but the grade is petty steep. You don't notice it too much going down, but you sure do on the way back up, especially when the temps are in the mid 90's with a ton of humidity!!
In the town of Front Royal that day the temperature reached 110 record breaking insanely hot degrees for VA!!

The first thought that came to my mind was Candles in the Wind, but since that seemed to close to the title of a song by Elton John, I went with Windswept candles.
I shot this on one of my visits to our local botanical garden. I usually spend a lot of time there each summer, I love to walk the trails, and of course take lots of photos of all the flowers. This year though, with the drought, so many of the flowers either aren't there at all, or are really not up to what they usually look like.
I am really hoping we'll see a turn in this weather pattern soon. We need some cooler temps, and loads of rain. I'm not sure if we have any hope of a decent fall here at this point, but I'm hoping there will be some good color somewhere in the country. There must be someplace that hasn't been affected by the drought!
Please let me know if your area seems like it may still be a good fall foliage candidate!
